In order to further strengthen Paderborn and the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region as a hotspot for start-ups, we are pursuing various projects that further promote start-up support and infrastructure.
Factory33 establishes an entrepreneurial, internationally visible beacon for B2B start-ups in the industrial digital transformation in Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL). Paderborn University, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Bielefeld University and OWL University of Applied Sciences are joining forces for Factory33.
We are one of 15 projects currently being funded in the concept phase by the EXIST lighthouse competition Startup Factories of the BMWK.
ESC.OWL is a start-up center of excellence. The players in the regional start-up ecosystem, such as the East Westphalian universities, will be fully integrated into ESC.OWL.
With OWL-wide start-up programs such as the InnovationslaborOWL or the Business Angel Netzwerk.OWL, the establishment of the only venture capital fund focused on OWL (Technologiefonds OWL) and the garage33 innovation quarter as a beacon for start-ups and corporate entrepreneurship, the University of Paderborn and the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics offer ideal conditions for promoting a start-up culture.
Since the beginning of 2024, the Start-up Campus OWL has provided university members, employees, start-ups, partner companies and those interested in founding a company with a beacon for start-up culture in the heart of the university city of Paderborn.
With an integrated maker space, the focus here is on efficient prototyping in particular. On an area of almost 1,000 m², a variety of workshops with corresponding machines offer opportunities to develop and test new products.
In addition to the workshops, we have created space for spacious event spaces, various co-working areas and a modern office landscape for the start-up scene in East Westphalia-Lippe on a total area of 7,000 m².
